August 6, 1985—League director Joe Scheidler heads to Australia for a three-week speaking tour through Sidney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, as well as Auckland and Christ Church, New Zealand, at the invitation of Australia Right to Life. Abortion is technically illegal in Australia, but is routinely provided with no repercussions from law enforcement, so pro-lifers “Down Under” are eager to learn the League’s activist techniques. During the trip, Joe joins protests at several “family planning” clinics and hospitals where abortions are performed.
