Get Your Planned Parenthood Gift Certificates…Then Again…

Posted by Corrina Gura (December 2, 2008 at 3:30 pm)

Can you imagine opening up a gift from someone you love on Christmas only to find that he or she had bought you a gift certificate to Planned Parenthood? Planned Parenthood of Indiana has thought of this “ingenious” project as a way to…well…I guess show your loved ones that you think they’re promiscuous. “Hey Sis, I think you need to be tested for STDs!” hmmm…

Tell PP They’re Wrong Again

Life Site News is asking pro-lifers to express their disproval by writing to PP of Indiana. Their address is 200 South Meridan Street, Post Office Box 397; Indianapolis, Indiana, 46206. Call them at 317-637-4343.

Bishop Hermann Calls For Fearlessness In Proclaiming Pro-life

Posted by Corrina Gura (November 26, 2008 at 3:32 pm)

Bishop Robert Hermann caused quite a stir when, at the recent assembly of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops he said that, “We have lost 50 times as many children in the last 35 years as we have lost soldiers in all the wars since the Revolution. I think any bishop here would consider it a privilege to die tomorrow to bring about an end to abortion. If we are willing to die tomorrow, then we should be willing to, until the end of our lives, take all kinds of criticism for opposing this horrible infanticide.”

Bishop Hermann Calls for More Abortion Awareness

Thank you so much, Bishop Hermann for this bold statement! In a follow-up interview with the St. Louis Review, he expanded upon this message. The bishop’s message paralleled that of League National Director Joe Scheidler’s from the Washington Post last week when he explained, “we should be totally fearless in promoting this cause without being concerned about political correctness, without trying to build coalitions with pro-choice people.” The bishop also added,

League to Sponsor Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass at Federal Plaza in Chicago

Posted by League Staff (November 26, 2008 at 11:58 am)
Our Lady of Guadalupe

Our Lady of Guadalupe—Patroness of the Americas

On Friday, December 12, 2008, the Pro-Life Action League will be co-hosting a historic event at Federal Plaza in Chicago. Bishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller, M.Sp.S. will be celebrating a solemn Mass in honor of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe at noon.

The inspiration for holding the Mass came from attorney Tom Brejcha of the Thomas More Society Pro-Life Law Center, Chicago. Brejcha and TMS are committed to bringing religion back to the public square this Christmas. Since Federal Plaza is a public space, any group can request a permit to hold an event. This Mass will be the first ever held on Federal Plaza.

Washington Post: Scheidler Calls Focus On Social Programs A Sellout

Posted by Corrina Gura (November 18, 2008 at 3:33 pm)

Today’s Washington Post featured an article titled Some Abortion Foes Shifting Focus From Ban to Reduction.

It explained that some pro-lifers have given up. In the words of Doug Kmiec, “If one strategy has failed and failed over decades, and you have empirical information that tells how you can honor life and encourage women to make that choice by meeting real needs…why not do that?”

Some Pro-Lifers Throw In The Towel

Well, Doug, we don’t do that because, as Judie Brown, the President of the American Life League said in the same article, “You don’t work to limit the murder of innocent victims…You work to stop it.” We don’t do it because, as League founder and National Director Joe Scheidler said, “it’s a sellout….You don’t have to have a lot of social programs to cut down on abortions” because we can do it ourselves, out on the streets like we’ve been doing. The national 40 Days for Life Campaign saved over 500 babies-that was not a result of social programs and federal handouts-it was the result of dedicated activists.

The League’s Eric Scheidler led the thirteenth monthly protest at Planned Parenthood Aurora. Despite chilly, windy weather, over 100 pro-lifers came out to let Planned Parenthood know that their presence in Aurora was not welcome.

When Planned Parenthood opened in October of 2007, Planned Parenthood of Illinois CEO Steve Trombley predicted that the pro-life protests would soon dwindle. He was wrong.

Entering the second year of regular monthly protests, Fox Valley pro-lifers are as commited as ever to ridding their community of the blight of Planned Parenthood. Not only are hundreds willing to devote a Saturday morning each month to protesting abortion, but prayer warrios and sidewalk counselors continue to reach out to abortion-bound mothers, week after week.

Cardinal George’s Statement Counters Obamamania

Posted by Joe Scheidler (November 14, 2008 at 3:35 pm)

Obamamania has hit not just the United States but it seems the whole world. All of Europe is rejoicing. African nations are celebrating. Most Eastern Religious sects are transfixed on the new U. S. President Elect. Heads of State are being urged to include more African-Americans in their cabinets.

Obamamania Is Everywhere

Through Chicago media we are learning Obama’s favorite foods, how he gets his hair cut and his music preferences. You can buy Obama look-alike suits, purchase a coin with Obama’s face on it, buy extra copies of the Election Night specials from the newspapers, and anticipate more specials coming up. Copies of daughter Malia’ dress worn election night have sold out, there are large banners with Obama’s face on them lining Chicago streets, and the first twenty or more pages of Time, Newsweek, U. S. News and World Report, The Tribune, the Sun Times – you name it – is all part of Obamamania. And I could go on and on but you get the drift.

USCCB Takes Obama To Task On Abortion

Posted by Joe Scheidler (November 11, 2008 at 3:37 pm)

Say a prayer for all the veterans of all the wars this country has fought to preserve our freedoms, most of which we still have but all of which we must never quit fighting for.

Remembering The Veterans

Reports are that only one American World War I veteran is still living. He’s 107 year-old Corporal Frank Buckles of West Virginia, who laid a wreath at the grave of General John “Black Jack” Pershing, the head of the American forces in Europe during World War I, at Arlington Cemetery on Veterans Day.

It was originally called Armistice Day. The Armistice was signed at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. When I was a kid, everything came to a halt at 11am on Nov. 11, while we all fell silent for a minute. We prayed as whistles would blow at the paper mill and the glass factory, and bells would ring from all the church towers. There are about a dozen vets worldwide still alive who fought in “The War to End all Wars,” as it was known. Buckles, who lied about his age and joined the army at 15, drove an ambulance during the war.

Scheidler: "Pro-lifers must answer this election with MORE ACTIVISM"

Posted by League Staff (November 11, 2008 at 12:50 pm)
Obama supports abortion

“In the week since Barack Obama’s presidential election victory, two things have become apparent,” commented Pro-Life Action League National Director Joe Scheidler. “First, come January, the pro-life movement is going to be facing the most hostile political environment we’ve ever known. And second, pro-lifers across the country are turning to grassroots activism as the most effective way to meet that challenge.

Obama is expected to immediately reverse some of President George Bush’s pro-life measures, including the Mexico City Policy that bans the expenditure of federal funds on international abortions. He intends to pour federal funds into human experimentation in the form of embryonic stem cell research. And he has vowed to appoint “pro-choice” judges to the federal courts.

Obama Admits He Doesn't Know What Is Moral

Posted by Joe Scheidler (November 7, 2008 at 3:39 pm)

In his book, “The Audacity of Hope,” President-elect Barack Obama has a curious commentary on Abraham’s willingness to sacrificing his son, Isaac, at God’s command. The item appears in Chapter 6 which is entitled, “Faith,” and is an in depth presentation of Obama’s view of the part religion plays in politics.

Obama’s Take On Faith

God has ordered Abraham to take Isaac to the mountain, place him on an altar and offer him as a burnt sacrifice. Obama writes, “it is fair to say that if any of us saw a twenty-first-century Abraham raising the knife on the roof of his apartment building, we would call the police; we would wrestle him down; even if we saw him lower the knife at the last minute, we would expect the Department of Children and Family Services to take Isaac away and charge Abraham with child abuse.” Obama is saying that since we do not know God’s secret plans, “we do … the best we can” and “act in accordance with those things that are possible for all of us to know.”

After the Election, Now What?

Posted by John Jansen (November 5, 2008 at 3:43 pm)

We now have a president-elect who said he doesn’t know when human beings should be given human rights, who promised to sign the Freedom of Choice Act—which would have a devastating effect on existing pro-life laws—and who voted to support legalized infanticide.
