League Endorses Second Annual Conference on Men and Abortion

Posted by League Staff (August 18, 2008 at 12:54 pm)

Reclaiming Fatherhood: A Multifaceted Examination of Men Dealing with Abortion—only the second ever international conference of its kind—will be held in Oak Brook, IL on September 8-9, 2008. The Pro-Life Action League encourages all pro-lifers to join the League’s delegation in attending the event to learn more about the all too often overlooked effects of abortion on fathers.

Outreach to Post-Abortive Fathers Crucial

Among other topics, “Reclaiming Fatherhood” will examine the impact a male can have on a woman’s abortion decision, the current research findings on how abortion psychologically affects men, and men’s spiritual growth as it pertains to the process of healing. Some current models for outreach to post-abortive fathers will also be presented.

“At last year’s ‘Reclaiming Fatherhood’ conference, men spoke about years of depression and addiction after helping a partner get an abortion”, said League National Director Joe Scheidler. “Just as women began telling their stories years ago and used their testimonies of years of emotional turmoil following abortion, men are now telling their stories to get the message out that abortion hurts not only the baby, but both parents.”

“This year’s conference promises to be an equally powerful testimony to the inherent evil of abortion”, said Scheidler.
