This year’s Empty Manger Caroling visitation to four notorious Chicago abortion mills on December 20 was memorable not only because we added some beautiful new Christmas songs to our repertoire, or because a group of baritones added beautiful harmony to the singing, or even because every stop was precisely on time. But, it was memorable also because some members of Chicago’s International Socialists Party showed up to try to interrupt our caroling.

The Pro-Life Action League’s sixth annual “Empty Manger” Christmas Caroling day was by far the most eventful year yet. For the second year, the League sponsored two tours, one in Chicago and one in DuPage county, visiting abortion clinics singing Christmas carols to bring light and hope to those dark places.
The Chicago tour experienced the sharp juxtaposition of the joy and peace of Christmas and the violence and anger of pro-abortion counter protest. [Continue reading ...]
We are pleased to report about two victories for the conscience rights of health care workers this week.
On Thursday, the Department of Health and Human Services affirmed the rights of federally funded health care workers to refuse to take part in abortions and other morally objectionable procedures.
LifeSite reports:
Well shame on us for not telling you the big news about our libel case against Planned Parenthood! We’ve been so busy planning for the Our Lady of Guadalupe mass and for next year (which promises to be action packed!) that we skipped right over that piece of news!
To recap, Eric Scheidler filed this libel case against Planned Parenthood for libel committed against himself and the League in their attempt to open their Abortion Fortress in Aurora. Judge Brawka ruled against the League, dismissed all counts, and ordered us to pay PP more than $300,000 in lawyers fees. She said, however, that a few items which had been recently uncovered could be brought up at a later date.
Bishop Garcia-Siller Greets the Faithful at Federal Plaza, Dec. 12 [Photo by EJS]
Bishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller celebrated Holy Mass for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe at Federal Plaza in Chicago December 12 with over 400 faithful in attendance, in the shadow of the Federal Building where President-Elect Barack Obama is working with his transition team.
Despite the eleven degree temperature and biting wind, the Mass was a joyous celebration of the life that comes into the world through the Mother of God.
Twelve priests concelebrated with Bishop Garcia-Siller assisted by two deacons and a host of acolytes.
The Mass of Our Lady of Guadalupe held in the Federal Plaza on Friday noon, was an experience of a lifetime. Several hundred stalwarts expressed their faith on a cold but sunny day in the heart of Chicago at the Federal Plaza, and heard a stirring homily by the celebrant, Bishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller.
On today’s hotline we mourn the loss of devoted pro-life activist Ken Crocco. He died on Sunday, December 7 after battling cancer. Ken was father to ten children. He often brought a car full of them with while he counseled at the Albany Abortion Mill-together they saved many babies. Now that he is in the presence of God, I hope He is able to see the lives he touched and the babies he saved. He was the proud recipient of a Pro-Life Action League “Dirty Dozen” Activist Award back in the days when we had banquets.
Please pray for the repose of his soul and for comfort for his wife and children. The visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8pm at St. Joseph Church in Harvard. His funeral Mass will be Friday December 12 at 11am at St. Joseph’s.
On January 22, 2009, hundreds of thousands of pro-lifers will march in Washington D.C. and thousands more in other American cities to commemorate the blackest day in American history.
That day was January 22, 1973,when the United States Supreme Court in a 7-2 decision violated the moral law, Thou Shall Not Murder, and the documents founding this country which guarantee a right to life to ourselves and our posterity. Since that blackest of days more than 50,000,000 unborn babies have been murdered in America.
Fifty million is such a large number that our minds can’t comprehend it, so for the past 36 years various pro-life groups have tried to make the number of killings more comprehensible. We have all seen Cemeteries to the Unborn, mostly displays of 4,000 white crosses representing a single day’s worth of abortions. In one city white shoeboxes representing baby caskets lined the road into a large city - miles and miles of white caskets laid end to end.

Planned Parenthood of Indiana (PPIN) started a national fury when they became one of the first Planned Parenthood affiliates to sell gift certificates for the Christmas season. According to PPIN’s president and CEO, thousands of their patients opt for abortions. Planned Parenthood of Illinois (PPIL) will begin selling the gift certificates Monday, December 8.
In response to these “death certificates,” the Pro-Life Action League is encouraging its supporters to give to a non-profit service, Option Line, the life-saving 24/7 hotline (1-800-395-HELP) that connects callers to local resource centers that can help manage a crisis pregnancy or deal with the aftermath of abortion.
The Pro-Life Action League will hold its sixth annual “Empty Manger” Christmas Caroling Day on Saturday, December 20.
Two caroling tours will take place, one visiting four Chicago abortion facilities and one visiting four in DuPage County.
“The Christmas story is a story of hope and joy brought into the world by a newborn baby,” commented League Communications Director Eric Scheidler. “We want abortion-bound mothers in Chicago and the western suburbs to know that their unborn babies are a gift, too.”
The League has saved babies from abortion in past years when their mothers heard the caroling. “One mother told our counselor that hearing ‘Silent Night’ made her think about how Mary said yes to God—and then she couldn’t go through with the abortion.”
