Bishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller, Vicar for Vicariate V in the south suburbs of Chicago celebrated a Mass for Life at St. Michael’s Church in Orland Park, IL on Saturday, June 2, with 700 pro-lifers in attendance. The bishop was joined by nine priests and two deacons.

Bishop Garcia-Siller’s outstanding homily on the efficacy of prayer and action urged people to go forth with the authority of God to fight abortion and build a culture of life. His theme was reminiscent of the Benedictine motto of ora et labora—”prayer and work”—which has always guided the efforts of League National Director Joe Scheidler.

700 Join Vigil at Planned Parenthood Facility

June 2 Vigil

The June 2 Vigil for Life was well attended by an enthusiastic pro-life crowd

Following the 8:30 Mass the group processed one mile to Planned Parenthood Express on LaGrange Ave, praying the Rosary and singing hymns. Bishop Gustavo prayed fervently for the close of Planned Parenthood and the conversion of those who support and seek abortions.

The Vigil for Life was coordinated by the Pro-Life Action League, with the cooperation of the Archdiocese of Chicago Respect Life Office, St. Michael’s Parish, the St. George Pro-Life Group and Illinois Right to Life Committee. Special thanks goes to Mary-Louise Kurey, director of the Respect Life Office and Fr. Michael Hack, pastor of St. Michael’s.
