As Bob Cratchet says to Ebenezer Scrooge the morning after Christmas, “I am behind my time.” Bob was eighteen minutes late for work, and expected to be fired. He got a raise. We’re two days late on recording Action News and don’t expect to get fired or to get a raise. But we won’t let it happen again.
A story out of the Alan Guttmacher Institute reporting from Atlanta making the rounds lately says more American women are having babies they didn’t want now than formerly, and that this statistic may be the result of a changing attitude about abortion.
Despite all the consternation this Christmas season over “Merry Christmas,” and “Happy Holidays,” it turns out that by far the majority of Americans like “Merry Christmas.”
A USA TODAY/CNN poll finds that 69 percent of adults prefer “Merry Christmas” to only 29 percent who like “Happy Holidays.” This is a change from 56 percent and 41 percent respectively last year, up 14 percent for “Merry Christmas,” and down 12 percent for “Happy Holidays.”
They say truth will out. All the hype over the use of embryonic stem cells is just that—hype. One recent proof of this is the scandal coming out of Seoul, South Korea where Hwang Woo-Suk has withdrawn his claims of a great break-through in embryonic stem cell research because these claims are fake.
After all the hoopla last June that he had created cell colonies for eleven patients through cloning, Hwang admits that he put pressure on his cronies to fabricate evidence. Nine of the stem cell lines were fake and the authenticity of the other two is in doubt. Hwang is unavailable for comment.

Over thirty carolers joined the Pro-Life Action League for the third annual “Empty Manger” Christmas Caroling Day Saturday, Dec. 17. The carolers hoped to reach abortion-bound women with a message of Christmas hope—and at least one couple who heard the carolers decided not to abort their baby.
At each of four abortion clinics in Chicago, the group gathered around a life-size empty manger to sing Christmas carols [PDF]] heralding the birth of the Christ Child. The empty manger is a symbol of the hope that a little baby can bring. But it is also a symbol of the empty space that is left when a baby is killed by abortion.
If you read this before 9 a.m. Saturday rush down to the kickoff of our annual “Empty Manger” Christmas Caroling at abortion clinics. We’ll start at Planned Parenthood, 1200 N. LaSalle St., and end up at the Scheidlers’ for Hot Chocolate, and Caroling.
On Oct. 12 we contacted American Girl headquarters to ask them to sever relations with and funding of Girls, Inc., because Girls, Inc. is pro-abortion, pro-contraception and pro-lesbian. We said it was wrong for American Girl to make young girls support Girls, Inc. with money from the sale of “I Can” bracelets.
The Pro-Life Action League and volunteers from around the Chicago area will visit abortion clinics throughout Chicago to sing Christmas carols on Saturday, December 17. The “Empty Manger” Christmas Caroling Day will memorialize all those unborn babies who will never “lay down their sweet heads” because they were aborted during the Christmas season, when we celebrate the birth of baby Jesus.
American Girl may not want to admit it, but the League’s protest and boycott are bringing about change.
American Girl has announced a new program called, “Save Girlhood,” aimed at slowing the mad rush society is imposing on chldren to enter adulthood too soon. This, after having linked with Girls, Inc. that tries to rush little girls into education on birth control, lesbianism and abortion. Also, they are dropping their alliance with Girls, Inc.right after Christmas, and will not contribute to them further.

Two recent developments demonstrate how effective the pro-life protest of American Girl has been. Since October, the Pro-Life Action League has protested American Girl’s funding of the pro-abortion group Girls Inc. through it’s “I Can” bracelet program. On November 1, the League called for a national boycott through the Christmas shopping season.
First, American Girl’s “I Can” program is now scheduled to end Dec. 26—the earliest possible day they could end the program without losing face. No mention of an ending date for the program was ever made until the pro-life protest picked up steam.
Chicago, December 14—”American Girl is trying to restore its wholesome image with pro-life families,” said Ann Scheidler, executive director of the Chicago-based Pro-Life Action League. “Their efforts at damage control show how effective our protest and boycott have been.”
