Letters to the Editor

Dear Joe,

Once again, thank you for the wonderful speech you gave at our Jackson Citizens for Life dinner. Everyone was completely engrossed in everything you had to say. It has also provided much thought for each of us.

There is little doubt that God has blessed you with the gift of words and the charisma to carry them to your listeners! Please know how much we appreciate your time, talent and effort. Sincerely,

Carolyn M. Pratt, Jackson Citizens for Life, Jackson, MI

Joe, Chris Smith here, the sponsor of St. Louis Community College at Meramec Circle of Life Club for 14 years.

Great to see you again at Gateway Academy on 4/25. The video about sidewalk counseling was excellent. We showed it at out club meeting the next day, April 26. Three people are now considering becoming involved with doing at least prayerful witnessing outside the clinics, and with time and training, I think they may become confident enough to actually talk with persons approaching the clinics.

Perhaps you could send a copy of the video to St. Louis' new archbishop, Raymond Leo Burke, suggesting that he encourage the priests and deacons to join the laity more often outside the clinics. I think it adds a distinct positive leverage to see a priestly white collar. Perhaps the priest on the video might even consider coming to St. Louis to give a seminar to priests and others here some time.

Chris Smith, Kirkwood, MO
Good for you Joe!

Hang in there. Our prayers are with you. Our Lord is with you too! Your patience is being tried big time, but with God's help you will be victorious.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Grill, Forest Park, IL
Dear Joe Scheidler and all Pro-Life Action League people,

I read and re-read your letter and your viewing of The Passion of the Christ. It left my son and me very quiet, too (not our usual state) as we left the theater -- the first time. Yes, we returned another day to see it again. I guess it just so much puts the tremendous reality of the pain, abuse, sufferings our Lord went through for love of us -- to save us. I mean most of us have crucifixes in our homes, see them in churches, or see Christ in various forms of artwork. But somehow, it's all so nice and clean and easy on the eyes. And so maybe we really aren't aware that, yes, Jesus suffered, brutally.

And whatever Pro-Life Action League suffers on behalf of trying to protect innocent human lives and their mothers, all that has to be joined with Jesus' gift of self to His Father. And I thank you for your loving and faithful witness.

I'm really sorry that the NOW v. Scheidler case is not resolved. What in the world is our country coming to with all this judicial tyranny? Sincerely for Life,

Mary Ann Hisnay, Parma, OH

Joe,

No, I can't believe our court system, although by now I guess nothing should surprise us. As Congressman Henry Hyde has said, "The unborn child does not have as much protection as a blade of grass," in our country. God bless you all,

Nancy and Pete Morrissey, Stickney, IL
Via E-mail:

Thank you for the work that you've done in preventing the murder of so many babies! I'm 17, and it's hard being a pro-lifer in a largely Democratic and atheist high school! Thanks for all your work -- what's the fastest way I can join?

Kyle McCarthy
Dear Joe,

I have been intending to write to you for ages, but between old age and laziness I didn't do so. I always find your Pro-Life Action League document very interesting, but also very saddening. You have certainly been having a rough time with Fay. I hope and pray that you will come out as well as possible. Really, Joe, you have been a wonderful example to us all by your years of wonderful pro-life work. And I am sure there will be a great reward in the next life.

Please excuse all the typing mistakes I make. My fingers are getting quite stiff as I think you know that I am almost 91. Every good wish and blessing to you and family. Sincerely yours in Christ,

Fr. Ted Colleton, CSSp, Toronto, ON Canada
Joe,

Keep up the fight. Don't even think of giving in to these people. It looks like it is time to seek adjudication from the Supreme Court. Fay Clayton and the lower judges should be disbarred!

Ben Mudd, Mabank, TX
Dear Joe,

I want to thank you again for your absolutely wonderful presentation to our group at LaCrosse. Every person I spoke to afterward said they could have listened to you for another hour, easily. You fed us all so well and so much with the food, truth and zeal of Christ. Many (if not all) came away very much re-charged to continue to do pro-life work in our area. Sincerely,

Mary Turner, President, Life Voice, LaCrosse, WI

Dear Joe,

Recently I had the opportunity to borrow a Meet the Abortion Providers tape. I was able to invite several of my friends to watch it and even though some have been involved in the pro-life movement they were shocked at what they saw and heard.

About six weeks ago one of the three abortion mills in the city of Sarasota, FL closed its doors. Some very faithful proclaimers of the truth about abortion had been faithfully going down to the mill for almost fifteen years. It was a long hard battle but God in His wonderful faithfulness allowed them to see the fruit of their labor.

I am always interested to read your newsletter to see what is taking place in your organization. I feel it is important for those involved in the pro-life movement to know what is taking place in other areas of the country. Yours in Christ,

Shirley Bohne, Bradenton, FL
Dear Joe,

You seem to have a terrible lot of trouble -- not your fault in any way. God loves your family and organization very much and only allows this awful suffering to bring about a pro-life victory, a miracle of grace that will free our country from the tyranny of God's enemies. I pray the four mysteries every day before the Blessed Sacrament for the conversion of all in favor of abortion and euthanasia.

Mary K. Holdman, Tucson, AZ
Dear Mr. Scheidler,

After all these years that the terrible trial has gone on, it has become unbelievable that the justice system is so bogged down. Why not have the Thomas More Law Center appeal to the attorney general of the U. S., Ashcroft, to get busy and straighten these judges out. Have him light a fire under them. Best of luck,

Helen Marshall, Boise, ID

Deliver Us from Evil

Editor's Note: The following letters represent the outpouring of support in response to the violent opposition we faced during our Face the Truth Campus Tour.

Dear Joe,

I can relate somewhat to your ink incident. On a hot, 95-degree day in July, I had a bucket of black and white oil-based paint thrown on me and my graphic sign in front of the YWCA in Salina, KS. They can't stand to see the truth! Keep up the good work.

Don Adam, Salina, KS
Joe,

Your April 30 letter made me realize just how satanic the pro-choicers have become. Keep the faith. I'm on two Face the Truth tours this summer. Love, in Him,

Lila Heitzler, Hampstead, MD
Joe,

Our prayers go out to you, et al., over the satanic episode. I hope one day I can see the ink on your hat and we hope your eye is O.K.

The news about people beginning Face the Truth tours is certainly exciting. We pray you get your large cargo van. Jesus, Mary and Joseph be with you.

Thomas Hawkins, Canonment, FL
Dear Joe Scheidler and PLAL,

Your encounter April 7 with the abortion fanatics was similar to what we witnessed at the Washington DC April 25 "choice" march. I was inspired to bring along a 5" x 9" metal Crucifix. Standing with other pro-lifers at the main starting point at 15th St. and Pennsylvania Ave. I held it at eye level as I gazed at the hard core marching individuals, some mockingly dressed in nun's habits. While we were in the cross-hairs, the reaction was chilling. If looks could kill I would have been drawn and quartered a hundred times. Those singled out could not take their eyes off the crucifix until they had to turn their heads.

John Moran, Bayport, NY
Dear Joe,

The Long Island Coalition for Life had a Face the Truth event in Nassau and Suffolk Counties just at the end of April. It went very well and we had no "horror" such as you encountered -- a few remarks, but no evil such as you encountered.

I understand the death march in D.C. had a similar experience
